1950-60s Annie Oakley American Legion Complete Flannel Uniform
America prides itself on the sustainability of family run business. Take for example the Coleman Dairy in Little Rock, Arkansas, they have been around since the early 1860s. Five generations have been at the helm and they are now the South's dairy leader.
With each decade the Coleman Dairy had to innovate and expand the market so naturally their means of advertising was important. "Buddy" Coleman and his family in the mid-50s, decided to invest on the new medium of television by sponsoring the Annie Oakley Show starring Arkansas native Gail Davis. The success helped boost sales for sure.
The Annie Oakley sponsorship expanded into the local baseball scene as demonstrated by this vintage American Legion baseball uniform from the 1950s-60s. Rawlings tagging is present on the interior collar [size] 40. All the buttons are present and sleeve patch "Coleman Pure Milk" accentuates the garment nicely. The number on the reverse "16" has pilling/fabric loss. The pants are also included and are Southern brand [size] M. The pants show heavy use with soiling (stains from sliding), a missing button and mild fabric loss.
