Professional authorities testify that the Murtaugh signature on this ONL (Giles) is of the "clubhouse" variety. However, all the other signatures on this ball confidently affirm that it was penned by rostered members of the champion 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates. In an unknown hand the ball has been notated "World Champions 1960," and because the Pirate roster changed very little for the '61 season, a case could be meekly argued that this keepsake was actually signed in 1961. The signatures are all very light - mostly "2-5" in strength - and we're unable to identify five of the names. Yet, clearly discernible are: Gene Baker, Smoky Burgess, Tom Cheney, Joe Christopher, Gino Cimoli, trong>Roberto Clemente ("4"), Roy Face, Bob Friend, Fred Green, Dick Groat, Harvey Haddix, Vernon Law, trong>Bill Mazeroski, Sam Narron, Rocky Nelson, Frank Oceak, Bob Oldis, Dick Schofield, Bill Virdon, and George Witt.
