It's not often that we sing the praises of a college basketball warm-up jacket from the 1970s. The '50s and '60s had their satin, fleece and heavy knit beauties. But the '70s yielded screened-on identifiers and most unfortunate cotton/mesh hybrid combos. Not so for the Wizard of Westwood's dynasty. UCLA stole a page from the Celtics with their on-court savvy and defensive mastery - as well as adopting Sand Knit's soft cheesecloth material. This bright yellow cheesecloth, long-sleeve warm-up is exquisitely styled with a seven-button front and 3 1/4" multi-striped, stretch-ribbed collar, waist and wrist cuffs. There are also two 1 1/4" embedded blue and white sleeve strips above each elbow. The front and back are boldly dominated by two-color sewn-on 5" identifiers, "UCLA" on front and "BRUINS" arched on the verso. Both are the epitome of simplicity and class. What else would one expect from Wooden, whose autograph appears on the lower front. A Sand Knit [size] "44" label resides in the collar, and oh, by the way, just for good measure, two-angled front pockets punctuate a jacket that would strike Armani with green envy.
