Awesome lot of seven silver award trays and cups documenting and celebrating the talents, achievements and career of Buffalo Sabres superstar Danny Gare, a three-time Sabres MVP and two-time NHL All-Star, and a player who gave 110 percent every night. He was built like a catcher but was as quick and graceful as a greyhound on the ice. For nine years, he was the Sabres' main spark plug, a perennial inspiration to his teammates and fans with an all-out, never-say-die style of play. He moved forward at full tilt every minute and was tenacious even when skating backwards. In nine years as the Sabres star right winger, he had two 50-goal seasons when 50 goal seasons were the exception rather than the rule. He also scored 35 game winning goals and 10 hat tricks, still ranking third on the team's all-time list. In 503 games, he scored 500 points, 267 goals and 233 assists. That includes 23 goals and 21 assists in the playoffs. This important lot of seven rather simple but elegant awards also reflects the "P.T.V.C.M." NHL. That's "Pre-TV Contract Money;" an era when players still dreamnt of a time they wouldn't need a regular job in the off-season to pay the mortgage. Those days are gone, but Gare's spirit lives on in this wonderful lot of personal trophies which continue to pay tribute to one the most talented and hardnosed players to ever take the ice.
