1978 Jack Lambert Steelers Game Used Road Jersey, Signed.

"If I could start my life all over again, I would be a professional football player, and you damn well better believe I would be a Pittsburgh Steeler." Jack Lambert, 1990 Hall of Fame Induction Speech. Lambert was the prototype middle linebacker, and possibly greatest of all time. He was intense, intelligent, fast, quick, durable, and noted for vicious tackling and superior pass defense; a veritable toothless monster ravaging the NFL. He won the starting middle linebacker position as a rookie, and never gave it up. As the Steelers’ defensive captain for eight years and veteran of nine consecutive Pro Bowls, he helped lead his team to four Super Bowls. Game-used equipment from his Hall of Fame career is rarely, if ever, offered. When was the last time you saw a Lambert jersey offered? Take our word for it... Never!! This is a fantastic heavy durene road jersey made by Sand Knit. This jersey features the classic Ripon lettering and durene nameplate. From the standard extra jersey length to the elbow padding on the 3/4 length sleeves and the aged durene with original tackle twill numbers, this jersey may be the premier piece of Steelers Super Bowl Era memorabilia ever offered. As for provenance, the jersey was originally donated by Lambert and the Steelers to a WQED public television charity auction. It was later sold a the Pittsburgh Steelers 1998 reunion show. It was even featured on the nightly news in Pittsburgh. The jersey has an authentic 1978 year tag and a Pittsburgh Steelers exclusive tag reattached by the team prior to the charity auction. To further add to the provenance, there is a 1978 picture of Lambert with the front number five somewhat crooked as on this jersey. To dispel any remaining doubt, included is a picture of a much younger Lambert holding the jersey with its former owner. Add the bold autograph by Jack and you have one of the nicest and rarest Steeler items in existence. This is an absolutely beautiful piece of Steelers and NFL history from one of the most dynamic players of all time. With such classic features and its provenance, this jersey belongs in a museum. This is likely the only opportunity one will have to own a game worn item from Jack Lambert, the heart and soul of arguably the best defense that ever played!
