1975 Larry Csonka WFL Memphis Southmen Game Used Jersey, Signed.
When the WFL began raiding premier NFL talent, it was no surprise they targeted Miami's superstar trio of Warfield, Kiick and Csonka. Csonka was a five-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl VIII MVP, who spearheaded the Dolphin's grueling ground attack. This unique and rare jersey represents his one year experiment with the renegade league's Memphis franchise. Beautiful and bright orange "Sports Belle" mesh jersey with cotton braid ribbed orange crossover neck and double knit orange sleeves featuring screened-on brown & white striping. All numeral and NOB identifiers are in two-color (brown/white) sewn on tackle twill with unique fonts, with "Size XL" label in lower left front tail. No repairs (the home field Liberty Bowl had one of the softest grass surfaces of its era), but displays numerous shoulder dings and crinkling of the numerals and NOB.
Accompanied by a two-page handwritten letter from the wife of the owner of Liberty Sporting Goods, supplier of WFL Southmen equipment and jerseys. Csonka personally signed and presented him this gamer at the end of the ’75 season, preserving a unique sewn-on representation for the most discerning Csonka collector or WFL collector.
