Early '90s Ozzie Smith Game-Used, Signed Glove

Ozzie Smith created magic with his unparalleled glove work. While he was dependable at the plate, the main reason for his inclusion into the Hall of Fame was because he was a top-tier fielder - possibly the slickest shortstop to assume the position. The tool of his trade was his glove.

When Smith was still at the top of his game, he wore this 12" Rawlings Gold Glove Series mitt. The Trapeze model glove, made of horween leather, was a favorite of Smith's in the early '90s. According to noted glove expert Denny Esken, Smith favored firm gloves because he played on AstroTurf in Busch Stadium. Some days the sweltering heat would reach 120 degrees. He would rotate gloves so they would retain their firmness. When other players felt their gloves were just breaking in correctly, Ozzie was ready for a new one.

Worth mention is the doe skin index finger pad which is still in-place - glued into the lining of the glove. "OZ" is written near the Rawlings manufacturer's logo by the thumb in black marker.

The glove shows decent pocket wear. "Ozzie Smith" (facsimile signature) is branded into the pinkie.

Also included is a Ronald McDonald House wristband worn by Smith during the '80s. "OZ" is written on the inside in black marker.
