HOF Ed Barrow Signed Check.
Among the very few executives in baseball's history who were geniuses and who admirably directed the benefit of the game was Ed Barrow. By his upright strategies, the Yankee dynasty first engineered by Jacob Ruppert was perpetuated well into the 1950's under Barrow's guidance. Barrow was Cooperstown-enshrined six years after his 1947 retirement, serving lastly as the Yankee Chairman of the Board. Six months prior to his death, he wrote and signed this offered check. It appears to be a counter check (no account number), and in all likelihood, its purpose was personal. Though Barrow signatures aren't particularly rare, this one has a special significance. This venerated Yankee executive was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1953, and the dating of this check, June 3, fell within days of his selection for permanent glory in the Hall. The check's signature has a few errant ink spots, rendering it about 7 in quality. It has no creases, and its cancellation is far removed from the signature. As a pleasant supplement, we also include here a period composite photo print of the champion 1941 Yankees with a vignette portrait of then "President" Barrow. This too is a nice piece, EX+-EX/MT.
