 1963 The Beatles Worchester Ware Serving TrayThis offered serving tray, featuring The Beatles, was manufactured in 1963. And though it evidences use, it yet retains luster and visual appeal. This is an original Worcester Ware. Worcester Ware was a product line made by “The Providence Works,” a company that commenced in sheet metal and tin plate in 1858. The factory (located in Blockhouse, Worcester) earned admiration for producing quality household goods, but they specialized in ballot boxes and judge’s wig boxes. These Beatle trays were among the company's final products; they closed their doors in 1963. Upon close inspection this tray (measuring 13” square), reveals some minor surface scratches with minimal paint chipping, but the image of the four Beatles projects the same visual appeal it had over 40 years ago. The white background area is unblemished, and the decorative details remain vivid. The red underside is beautiful and still has the original Worchester Ware decal - fully intact and legible. Ultimately, this splendid Beatles piece is in NM-MT condition. In the mid-1970s, replicas of this tray appeared commercially. However, those copies are easily distinguished from the originals as they weigh considerably less and are molded from aluminum with an acrylic coating. 1963 You May Also Like... |
