University of Maine Baseball Game-Worn Flannel Uniform

The University of Maine has been known for its stellar hockey teams, its Michigan style football helmets, and Delaware winged T-offense - and its harsh winters which mandate extensive southern swing road trips for its accomplished baseball program.
This heavy flannel relic hails from the 1940s. The five-button-front jersey is accentuated by black piping on the sleeve edges, the collar and the entire abbreviated button path. All buttons are intact and “M-A-I-N-E” is arched on the jersey front in baby blue on black felt in a font reminiscent of the “Red Sox” lettering of the era.
There is some felt degradation on the bottom of the “I” and “E” and the middling portion of the “N,” while the back blue felt shows light fading. A two-color felt number "5" graces the jersey back.
A pair of flannel pants with repairs and a W. H. BRINE (BOSTON) label in the waistband accompanies the jersey.
Ancient collegiate baseball flannels may not be the vanguard in diamond jubilee game-used collectibles, but this one does the Yankee Conference proud.
