Commodore Oscar Smith Personal Banner & buttons and stripes - Vintage photo of his flag & personal photo in uniform

Commodore Oscar Smith was an officer and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1908 and became a Commodore during World War 2 and in 1944 he became the head of the Guided Missiles Committee which explored every guided missile and drone project currently under development.

Included here is his personal service flag (service banner) given to him for his family to display and it shows considerable pinholes and several 1" tears from display usage as would be expected from a Navy man's family - especially one the equivalent of a 1 star General. It measuring a massive 60x36'' blue with the white star, in unsrestored condition. An actual 8x10 B&W photo of the flag being flown at his base is included

Also included is his personal collection of buttons and stripes worn by this American hero and also has a vintage photo of Oscar Smith in uniform.

The original Navy man, overseer of our fledgling drone program, and national hero who served in silence in WWII is presenting these personal memorabilia more than a half century later via family estate.
