November 14, 1937 - John Montague Golf Debut on Original Wire News Photo with Babe Ruth Watching (Wide World Stamping)

John Mantague was an interesting fellow. As a golfer, he was one of the best in the early 1930s. He also played some minor-league baseball which may explain some of the fanfare by Babe Ruth in this origninal news photo featuring the two. The black and white taken on the links measures 7-1/4" x 9".  It shows Mantague in an afterswing with Ruth looking on in the crowd.

News caption affixed on the reverse with service stamping (World Wide Photos) dating the photo to the period - November 14, 1937.
